Grandmother and child die in Tofoa house fire [1]

An 82-year-old grandmother and her five-year-old grand-daughter died in a house fire at Tofoa on Saturday morning, 6 May, Tonga Police reported. 

Tonga Police received a report of the house fire at around 4:00am.

“At the time of the unfortunate incident, the two were the only people inside the house,” stated Police.

They urged the public to consider “the importance of always having adult and  appropriate supervision for vulnerable members of our respective families, especially, for our elderlies and young children,”

No further details have been released at this stage. Tonga Fire & Emergency Services with Tonga Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
