Innovative “STEAM” competition for Tongan students [1]

Tonga is the first island nation to sign-up to a competition, which aims to drive a new level of innovative thinking and problem-solving amongst the country’s youth. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has partnered with the Tonga’s Ministry of Education in the competition 'Samsung Solve for Tomorrow' for students this year.
This is a new nationwide competition, which will challenge Tonga’s next generation of innovators to unleash their creativity and use STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) to help improve their communities.
On 28 April, the CEO of the Ministry of Education, ‘Isikeli Oko and Samsung's New Zealand’s President HM Chun signed a Memorandum of Understanding agreement in Nuku'alofa. The delegation also made a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister, Hon. Hu'akavameiliku who is also the Minister of Education.
The new partnership will have the 'Solve for Tomorrow' competition roll out to Tonga’s students this year and include a possible pool of up to $10,000 in prizes, including prize money and Samsung technology for the winners and their school. (Terms and conditions apply).

Innovation and ingenuity are important qualities that we want to instil in Tongan youth, and we are looking forward to seeing students not only embrace the challenge, but deliver creative solutions.”
First launched in the USA in 2010, and in New Zealand in 2021. Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition has been influential internationally, with more than 1.7 million students and teachers participating across more than 20 countries.
