Tonga’s flags to fly half-mast for late PM's funeral [1]

Flags will be flown at half-mast in Tonga on Tuesday, 18 April in respect of the funeral of the former Prime Minister, the late Rev Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa.
The Prime Minister, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku today decreed that all national flags in Tonga will be flown at half-mast tomorrow, for the funeral. Hon. Rev. Dr. Tu’i’onetoa was the People’s Representative to the Legislative Assembly for Tongatapu 10 Constituency.
The funeral cortege arrived at Fua’amotu International Airport from the United States on 15 April.
The former PM passed away in California last month, on 18 March (US time), where he had gone for medical reasons. He was the 17th Prime Minsiter of Tonga, serving from 2019-2021.
From Talafo'ou, Tongatapu, he is survived by his wife Hena and children.
