Moala ‘Ikani (31), Nukutefua Teu (36) and Tevita Pasi (20) who pleaded guilty to charges, including possession of methamphetamine and cannabis seized at Hofoa last month, received suspended sentences at the Fasi Magistrate's Court.

On 5 April, Magistrate Ma’u sentenced the three men, after they pleaded guilty to their charges committed on 2 March 2023.

‘Ikani was convicted on two counts of possessing 19.99 grams of cannabis and drug utensils.

He was sentenced to six-months imprisonment, which was fully suspended for two-years on conditions. He had previous convictions including that of theft.

Similarly, Teu was sentenced to six-months imprisonment, fully suspended for two-years on conditions. He was convicted on possession of 0.06 grams of methamphetamine, 0.26 grams of cannabis and utensils.

He had no previous convictions.

Tevita Pasi, who was convicted on three charges that included possession of drug utensils and 1.36 grams of cannabis was too sentenced to six-months imprisonment, fully suspended for two-years on conditions.

He had no previous convictions.

The Magistrate ordered that conditions of their suspended sentences, included not committing any offences while on probation and they must carry out 40-hours each of community work, ordered the Magistrate.

Meanwhile, the illicit drugs are to be destroyed by Police and the $692 cash seized be forfeited to the Crown.
