Second arrest in Ngele‘ia for illegal liquor selling [1]

A second person was arrested after Tonga Police disrupted the illegal selling of liquor at a residence in Ngele’ia.
Police alleged that on Friday, 24 February police officers confiscated 250 cans and bottles of various alcohol beverages being sold unlawfully from this residence.
“Tonga Police will continue to target and enforce the law with respect to alcohol, as this is one of the main drivers of crime and policing demands.”
They also acknowledged members of the community who assisted Tonga Police to keep families safe from harm and substance abuse.
This was the second seizure of illegal liquor being sold at this village. Earlier on 18 February, Tonga Police reported that over 500 cans and bottles of various alcoholic beverages were seized, after they were allgedly being sold illegally from a home.
A man was arrested and charged in relation to this offence.
