Two people arrested with illicit drugs in car [1]

A man and a woman in their 30s were arrested in relation to the seizure of 24.92 grams of methamphetamine and cannabis in a car at Veitongo in Tongatapu, over the weekend.

The two suspects were arrested on Saturday night, 18 February.

Police alleged that the illicit drugs were found in a bag and from inside the car used by the suspects. The two remain in police custody to appear in court this week.

Deputy Police Commissioner Tevita Vailea confirmed today that meth and 11.47 grams of cannabis were allegedly found in the bag. while an additional, 1.34 grams of cannabis was found in the possession of the woman, when she was searched.

Police said that cash seized was $262 pa'anga, AUD$50 and NZD$100.
