Tonga's COVID-19 cases decreasing [1]

Tonga recorded a total of 45 COVID-19 positive cases reported the Ministry of Health on 3 February.
The positive cases reported are mild and on a downward trend as the week before reported 62 cases.
The Minister of Heath, Hon. Dr Saia Piukala told Matangi Tonga on 8 February that the COVID-19 variants in the country are still aBA2 and BA5.
He said there are more than 1000 weekly suveillance tests carried out, which is essential and will continue so that the Ministry of Health could monitor the virus not only on Tongatapu but also in the outer islands.
“We are very fortunate that when the first cases of COVID-19 was first confirmed in Tonga, our vaccination was already rolling and in a high rate, which helped us a lot in curbing it,” he said.
Tonga remains on the green level which is satisfactory.
