The 17-year-old youth who sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a vehicle, while he was crossing Taufa'ahau Road at Nualei, on 1 February has been discharged from Vaiola Hospital. 

Police said today that the victim Manitisa Ariff has since been discharged after undergoing an x-ray examination and treatment but will undergo ongoing clinics. 

The 52-year-old driver who is charged with reckless driving causing bodily harm has been released on bail. He is expected to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 February.

Police stated that on Wednesday, 1 February at around 1:00pm, they responded to the road accident, where the victim from Tatakamotonga sustained severe injuries, after being hit by a moving vehicle.

Police allege that the driver from Haveluloto was heading west and driving without due care, and that while overtaking the vehicle in front, his vehicle collided with the victim who was crossing the road.
