Parliament reconvenes, new MP for Tongatapu 8 sworn in [1]

The Tonga Legislative Assembly resumed its session this morning. Nuku'alofa, 31 January 2023.

The Legislative Assembly of Tonga convened its first meeting for 2023 this morning, Tuesday, 31 January when one new MP was sworn in.

This was People's Representative Johhny Grattan Vaea Taione, who won Tongatapu 8 By-Election, on 19 January. He replaces Semisi Fakahau, who passed away last year.

The agenda included a Bill and Regulations received from the Government, annual reports from government agencies, and other reports to be tabled for consideration by the House, among others.

The House reconvenes after its last sitting in December 2022.
