A 43-year-old husband and his 29-year-old wife were arrested with illicit drugs, at ‘Anana.

Another 24-year-old man was also arrested at Veitongo this week.

On Wednesday, 25 January, the couple from Veitongo were arrested with the other man for possession and supply of illicit drugs.

Tonga Police said police intercepted the couple in their vehicle at a residence at ‘Anana and found in the wife’s bag, seven packs of methamphetamine, and drug utensils. A further search was carried out at their Veitongo residence, where the third accused from Ha’akame was apprehended along with a pack of cannabis found in the room he occupied.

Other items seized by police were one scale, empty packs, and $240 cash.

All three were in custody to appear in court.

Police allege the total weight of the methamphetamine was 0.44 grams, with cannabis at 0.08 grams.
