Petroleum prices drop [1]

The new petroleum prices for January to February have decreased effective from 18 January, 2023, the Tonga Competent Authority announced.

The wholesale petrol, kerosene and diesel prices, compared to last month’s petroleum price review, decreased by 17.41 seniti/litre, 20.79 seniti/litre and 26.64 seniti/litre, respectively.

As a result, Tongatapu retail prices for petrol decreased to $3.35 per litre from $3.52 per litre, while, kerosene decreased to $2.87 per litre and diesel to $3.76 per litre.

The Tonga Competent Authority stated that the mid-January 2023 price change is based on the December 2022 average of published daily Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) benchmark prices for product prices and freight cost, along with the month’s exchange rate.
