Australian High Commissioner HE Rachael Moore presented the AUSTRAC-designed IT system called TAIPAN to NRBT’s financial intelligence unit to Reserve Bank's Acting Governor, Jessie Cocker in Nuku'alofa.

The National Reserve Bank of Tonga and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre have formed a new partnership in financial intelligence.

On 21 December, Australian High Commissioner HE Rachael Moore presented the AUSTRAC-designed IT system called TAIPAN to NRBT’s financial intelligence unit to Reserve Bank's Acting Governor, Jessie Cocker in Nuku'alofa.

They also signed an official letter of arrangement between AUSTRAC and Tonga’s FIU.

TAIPAN system will enable NRBT’s intelligence analysist to identify suspicious financial patterns that can help detect illicit financial activity in a more secure and innovative method.

AUSTRAC is proud to be partnering with Tonga on the development of the system and to support NRBT with the rollout, stated the Australian High Commission.
