NZ scholarship for THS Dux, Malia Mafi [1]

The 2022 Dux of Tonga High School, Malia Mafi was awarded the King Tupou VI Coronation Scholarship to study at Otago University, in New Zealand.
She will be pursuing a Bachelor of Health Sciences.
Acting New Zealand High Commissioner Peter Lund presented the scholarship to Malia on 16 December in Nuku'alofa.
This scholarship has a special history. It was gifted by the former Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae, on the occasion of the coronation of King Tupou VI.
The scholarship is offered annually to the Dux of Tonga High School. Malia's older brother Maletino Mafi is a former recipient of the Coronation Scholarship in 2018.
In addition, her parents Dr Maletino and Joyce Mafi and older sister Malia Laumanu Mafi are also New Zealand Alumnis, which inspired Malia to pursue further academic studies in New Zealand.
Malia who was THS Head Girl was awarded Dux during the government secondary school’s prize giving ceremony, on 9 December.
