So far, in December, 126 marriages have been registered by the Registrar General's Office in Nuku'alofa, during the most popular month for couples to tie the knot, before government closes for the Christmas holidays, tomorrow, 22 December.
The Registrar General's Office reported that the 126 marriage licenses issued are up to 20 December.
At the same time, the highest number of marriage licenses issued in a day, not only just this month but for the whole year, was on 15 December, with 36 couples.
The last working day for government offices is Wednesday, 21 December.
Since the start of December, jubilant families and friends of the newlyweds have been honking horns, holding feasts and driving decorated vehicles to celebrate the unions, which were more special this year, as Tonga's international border re-opened bringing loved ones from abroad.
