Fonoifua Island families gifted solar panels and equipment [1]

Digicel's Lionel Tu’inukuafe, presents $111,059 to the Prime Minister for Fonoifua island solar panels. 20 December 2022.

The people of Fonoifua in Ha'apai have received assistance from Digicel to get solar panels and equipment to help in their recovery from the January tsunami.

A total of $111,059 pa’anga was presented from Digicel Tonga to the Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, to provide the solar panels and equipment for the island.

Presented by Lionel Tu’inukuafe, this funding is part of Digicel's assistance towards the Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai Tsunami Recovery program.

The Prime Minister's Office stated today that the funds will assist the people of Fonoifua in Ha'apai get solar panels and equipment so that they are able to get power for their needs.

This was after the PM made the request to Digicel on behalf of the community.
