Two men arrested for possession of cannabis and shotgun in Hihifo [1]

Two men were arrested in Hihifo this morning, accused of being in possession of cannabis and an unlicensed shotgun, Tonga Police reported.

Police officers at the Hihifo District conducted a search warrant this morning, 15 November 2022, in a residence at Haákame where they arrested two males aged 41 and 26 years for possession of five cannabis plants, drug utensils, one 12 Gauge unlicensed shotgun and electronic devices.

The accused persons remained in Police custody while an investigation continued.

Meanwhile, Tonga Police reminded the public that for everyone’s safety to be vigilent, “We urge for the return to Police of illegal firearms.”

“We acknowledge the close partnership with the communities and encourage anyone who may have information about drugs to please come forward or contact phone 740-1660 or 922,” Tonga Police stated.
