Samoa’s Head of State to visit Tonga [1]

Samoa’s Head of State, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Eti Sualauvi II will officiate the graduation ceremony of the University of the South Pacific in Tonga on Friday, 18 November.
He is expected to arrive in Tonga on 16 November in his capacity as the Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific. He will be accompanied by Afioga Masiofo Faamausili Leinafo Tuimalealiifano.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nuku’alofa stated today that Samoa and Tonga enjoy long standing close relations.
This is the first visit to Tonga of a Head of State in three-years, since Tonga closed its borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to the volcanic and tsunami disasters in January this year.
