Police warn online traders over Sunday sales [1]

Six people, accused of trading online on Sundays, have been issued warnings by Tonga Police for trading online on Sunday, 6 November in Tongatapu.
 
Tonga Police today stated that these individuals were advertising their products, mainly food items on facebook/meta and similar online platforms and were administering sales on Sunday.
 
“This is unalwful as under Clause 6 of the Constitution of Tonga and Section 6 of the Order in the Public Places Act. 

“Tonga remains unique where the Sabbath Day, defined under law, shall be kept holy and no person shall practice his trade or profession or any commercial undertaking except according to law.”

Tonga Police reminded members of the members of the public to refrain from unlawful practices. “Take this as our final warning as perpetrators will be held to account," they warned.
