Senior students at Beulah Adventist College received laptop computers on 4 November.

Tonga Government Officials handed over laptops to18 students in Form 6 and 7 under a national programme.

Dr ‘Elisapesi Manson, at Beulah College said government is committed to providing laptops for senior students across the country, “to encourage further online learning, and “to ensure that quality learning is maintained even during distance learning due to school closures” such as those experienced earlier this year.

“The laptops are owned by the students,” she said. “Senior students at Beulah Adventist College are excited about this new milestone in their learning journey as they prepare for their external examinations in December.”

The project, worth $50,000, covered the cost of the laptops, including pre-installed software such as Windows 11 operating system and Microsoft Office and anti-virus software.

“Phase 1 involved the Government of Tonga and key school stakeholders funding the project, students receiving their laptops in Phase 2 and followed by the product training for students in the final Phase 3.”

“Students are now competent users of their new laptops after going through several phases of the project.’

She said that not included in this project value were the services provided by the school from existing network infrastructure, internet access, wireless printing and e-library, which students with their laptops can access in the classroom and around the school campus, and the information technology support and training provided by the school.
