Tonga Government's public services will close down for their annual christmas holiday, for two-weeks starting from Thursday, 22 December, 2022 to resume work on Wednesday, 4 January, 2023.

Cabinet on 28 October approved the Christmas vacation period for most government ministries, while essential services will continue to operate, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Police and Customs Division. The respective Ministries will announce their operating hours closer to the date.

During the week of 4 January, the civil service will finish work early at 4:00pm daily, for the annual Uike Lotu (Prayer Week of the New Year).
