A new 18-classroom building for Government's Tonga Side School was commissioned by the Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku at Tofoa on 21 October.

The PM who is also Minister for Education and Training said this is the second building for the school compound.

"The completion of the second building sees the dream of relocating and rebuilding TSS so that they move back together to one, central and accessible location, therefore easing the burdens and strains that has plagued TSS for the past years.

“Teachers will have the best facility to provide transformational education for their students."

The PM said this compound was chosen and designed to ensure the safety of the children and teachers, the flow of traffic for the drop-off and pick-up of the children and most importantly, a place of learning and growth.

"We will continue to support and resource TSS as a school that meets a unique and distinctive need for certain students. TSS’ enrolment and student body will remain selective as an English language primary school to accommodate for international and English-speaking students."

He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministries of Finance, Infrastructure and Education and Training for their joint efforts in this work, as well the PTA and school staff.
