One Girl’s Let’s Tok' program was held for the first time in Nuku'alofa by Talitha Project, with the aim to increase digital literacy and promote interconnectedness among young people, on 15 October.

The pilot program set out to increase knowledge and confidence with 16 young women aged between 12 to 21 years taking part, with topics covering self-worth, planning for their future and leadership.

Talita Project stated today that each participant was provided with a tablet to ensure effective engagement in the program, which is facilitated online through Whatsapp, over eight-weeks from 19 October to 9 December.

The program held at the Tanoa Hotel is managed and funded by One Girl, a non-profit feminist organisation in Australia working predominantly in Sierra Leone and Uganda to educate young girls. This is their first program in the Pacific implemented in Tonga by Talitha Project.

Meawhile, this program coincided with International Day of the Girl marked on October 11 under the global theme, 'Our time is now - Our rights, our future'.
