China donates $65,000 to upgrade Tonga Police workshop [1]

A $65,000 cheque from the Chinese Government was handed over to Tonga Police for the upgrade of its mechanical workshop at the Tonga Police headquarters in Longolongo.
The cheque was handed over by Chinese Ambassador, HE Mr Cao Xaolin to Police Commissioner Shane McLennan on 30 September.
This aid from the Chinese Government to Tonga Police is to assist with the upgrade of Tonga Police’s existing mechanical workshop to a four-bay high set roof extension equipped with proper garage tools and equipment.
Commissioner McLennan said Tonga Police was grateful for the assistance.
“This upgrade is vital as to establish a friendly and safe working environment conducive to the wellbeing and safety of our mechanical team.”
He said Tonga Police values its relationship with donor partners and acknowledged the Chinese Government for their generous support.
The Ambassador, during the handover said they intended to donate more funding in the next financial year to cover the full amount of the intended upgrade.
“We are looking to assist the Tonga Police further in other areas including vehicles and uniforms.”
The Ambassador viewed the existing workshop in its current state.
