Kingdoms of Tonga and Bahrain establish diplomatic relations [1]

The Kingdom of Tonga has formally established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain with the signing of a Joint Communiqué in New York on 19 September 2022.
Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku and the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Dr Abullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, signed the Joint Communiqué, on the sideline of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nuku’alofa stated today that the formalization of the diplomatic relations signified mutual trust and respect between the Kingdoms.
"It will enhance and promote mutual understanding and strengthen the friendship and cooperation in economic and social cooperation, such as climate change, education and cultural ties."
Also at the signing was the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu, and Tonga’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Va'inga Tone, and other Tongan delegation members, who are attending the UN General Assembly High Level Meetings.
