Tonga climbs to No.2 in Rugby League World rankings [1]

Mate Ma'a Tonga fans take to the roads.

Tonga’s Mate Ma’a Tonga climbed to second place in the IRL World Rankings.

The IRL rankings were updated and released on 8 July, after the recent series of mid-year tests.

Tonga now heads to the 2022 Rugby League World Cup in October, rated as the second-best nation.

This is Tonga's highest-ever ranking despite being defeated by the Kiwis 26-6 in last month's test.

As Tonga climbed to second England fell to third, while Australia remain at four. Australia has not played an international fixture, since its loss to Tonga in 2019.
