Tonga’s new Police Commissioner, Shane McLennan, presented his credentials to King Tupou VI at the Royal Palace, in Nuku’alofa on 30 June.
“I feel deeply honoured and humbled for the private audience with His Majesty King Tupou VI, which presents the opportunity to discuss important matters for Tonga Police and the security of the nation,” he said.
Since arriving in May, Commissioner McLennan met with the Prime Minister and Minister for Police, Hon. Hu’akavameiliku, government officials and stakeholders.
He had also visited and met police staff throughout police stations on Tongatapu and Ha’apai, with visits to Vava’u, ‘Eua and the two Niuas scheduled.
His employment contract with the Government of Tonga is for three-years, after arriving from Australia in May.
