Commencing August 15 the price of all international air tickets for passengers departing the Kingdom of Tonga will increase by $30 due to the inclusion of a $10 Security Fee and a $20 Airport Development Fee. This is in addition to the $25 Passenger Service Charge collected at departure.

An additional $2 security fee will apply to all departing domestic flights.

Such fees are commonplace in most countries, and are required to bring the airports of Tonga up to continually more stringent international standards. The fees will be used to upgrade the airport infrastructure for your safety, security and comfort.

This initiative is taken by Tonga Airports Limited, while the new charges will be collected for us by our airline partners. We therefore particularly ask for your understanding on their behalf. TAL, 13/08/07.
