China donates more farm tractors to Tonga's recovery [1]

A donation of 30 farm tractors from China’s Dongguan City, Guangdong Province was handed over to the Prime Minister Hon. Hu'akavameiliku this afternoon, 10 June.
Chinese Ambassador HE Mr Cao Xiaolin said the 30 farm tractors were one of the concrete outcomes of the visit by the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister HE Mr Wang Yi to Tonga.
He said during his visit the Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister told the King and the Prime Minister that China had set up six new platforms for Pacific Island countries, including poverty reduction and development, climate action, disaster preparedness and mitigation and agricultural cooperation.
He said that China and Tonga had enjoyed very friendly relations and cooperation, “and our bilateral ties will sure to better and better in the future”.
"I would like to say that, as one of the development partners of Tonga, China doesn’t just talk the talk, China walks the walk. When it comes to development commitments, China has a strong track record of delivering. China will continue to deliver on its commitments, on its economic and technical cooperation with Tonga."
Hon Hu'akavameiliku extended the Tongan Government's gratitude for this donation.
"As Tonga struggles to rebuild after the shocking volcanic eruption and tsunami, I am most grateful for your timely donation, which will assist and enhance the development Tonga’s human and land resources as well generating further economic and social wealth," he said.
In addition, he said Tonga continues to benefit from the strong cooperation with Dongguan City, Guangdong Province. Today the tractors shall significantly assist farmers, their families and communities as well as Tonga's economy.
The handover event was held at the Small Industries compound at Ma'ufanga.
