Man arrested in Tonga Post burglary and arson investigation [1]

A 35-year-old male from Tofoa has been arrested regarding the burglary and theft of $75,121 pa'anga from the offices of Tonga Post in 2021.
Tonga Police said today the incident was reported at the time by ‘Alipate Tāvō for Tonga Post who said this occurred on the night of 3 July last year at Vaololoa.
“The company’s safety deposit box contained $75,121.55 cash was removed from the CEO’s office room before the office was set ablaze.
“The Police Forensic Team was crucial in the investigation where fingerprints found at the crime scene have helped in identifying the arrested suspect.”
The suspect is facing charges related to housebreaking, theft, arson, and willful damage to property.
He is remanded in police custody until 30 May.
A Police investigation continues to locate others that were involved in this crime and to recover the money.
