Three youths jailed 3-5 years for rape [1]

Three youths aged 19, 21 and 22-years have been sentenced to imprisonment by the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa for raping a young woman.
Hon. Mr Justice Cooper imposed the sentences earlier this month, after the three had pleaded guilty to the serious offences.
The judge issued an order under section 119 that no detail is allowed to be reported that would lead to the identification of the victim in this case.
He sentenced the 22-year-old to five-years one-month imprisonment for two counts of rape. The last 12-months suspended for two-years, on conditions.
The 19-year-old was sentenced to four-years and nine-months imprisonment for one count of rape. His last 12-months suspended for two-years, on conditions.
The judge sentenced the 21-year-old to three-years and eight month's imprisonment for one count of rape.
The last 12-months of his sentence was suspended for two-years, on conditions.
These serious offences occured in 2020. The court was told that alcohol was involved.
