The Deputy PM, Dr Viliami Tangi clears his name [1]

I wish to inform the public there is no truth in the report published in the Talaki newspaper of 25 July 07 that stated:
Clive Edwards informed the meeting of the Public Servants last Saturday that, "The Deputy Prime Minister revealed to us during the meeting of the Tripartite Committee saying that the King had already accepted the People's Model and that such Model should be the one that we should utilize. But the Prime Minister and some others are the ones insisting that the king's nominees should be included in this model."
I did not make any such statement to Clive Edwards or to the Tripartite Committee of the Legislative Assembly. Clive Edwards should apologise to the people for making such a false statement.
The proposal for political reform which the Prime Minister presented to the Legislative Assembly and the public last year was a proposal from Cabinet and Privy Council and it is one of the many models that the Tripartite Committee is working on.
With the greatest of respect.
Dr Viliami Tangi
Hon. Deputy Prime Minister.
