SPBD donates relief kits and cash to members [1]

Relief kits and cash were donated to members of the South Pacific Business Development (SPBD Tonga) Microfinance today to aid in recovery efforts from the volcano eruption and tsunami event that impacted Tonga in January.
SPBD said around 3,200 members will receive the donations on Tongatapu worth $400,000 pa’anga.
The relief items includes kilos of rice, sugar, flour, tin fish, breakfast crackers, washing powder and dishwashing liquid.
The SPBD team, led by Paula Fa’u delivered the items and $50 cash today to each member in Popua, Patangata, Touliki, Fangaloto, and Houmakelikao.
Local business, Luna'eva helped SPBD in delivering the relief items.
Next week, the team will continue to deliver the donations to members in other areas.
The South Pacific Business Development (SPBD Tonga) Microfinance empowers its members to start, grow and maintain micro-businesses. The organization provides them with the access to financial and business development services, as well as the opportunity to build assets, improve financial security and to finance housing improvements and education.
