COVID-19 vaccines rollout for children in Tonga [1]

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine program for children aged started rolling out across primary schools in Tongatapu today, April 19.
The New Zealand Government provided 13,500 doses of the vaccine, which arrived in Tonga on April 13.
Earlier today, an official ceremony was held with the New Zealand High Commissioner, HE Tiffany Babington handing over the vaccines to the Ministry of Health.
This week, children in the districts of Kolonga, Mu’a, Fua’amotu, Vaini, and Pea will be vaccinated according to the timetable above.
Daily new cases of COVID-19 are continuing to decline with 58 new cases reported on April 17, as well as 1,522 active cases, and 11 deaths caused by the virus.
Meanwhile, at least 98% of the target population have received their first doses; 90% their second doses; and 55% have now received booster shots.
COVID-19 has reached the outer islands of Vava’u and Ha’apai, while ‘Eua and the Niuas remain COVID-19 free.
