Ha’apai under lockdown due to COVID-19 [1]

Ha’apai is now under lockdown, starting today up to 5:00am Saturday, April 9, after it was confirmed there is COVID-19 spreading in the community.
The Tonga Government's restrictions directions said the Ha’apai Group will now observe the same lockdown restrictions currently in Tongatapu and Vava’u.
Licensed businesses can operate today and on Thursday between 5:00am and 8:00pm.
Night-time curfews apply from 8:00pm to 8:00am tonight, Thursday 7 April, and Friday 8 April, and from 8:00pm to 5:00am on Wednesday 6 April.
People are required to home-isolate during the lockdown and can go out only to access medical assistance, COVID-19 vaccinations, financial institutions, and purchase or supply essential goods.
In addition, subsistence fishing and farming is allowed and people can also attend to livestock.
Essential service providers are permitted to attend work during this time.
Funeral gatherings are limited to 10 people indoors and 20 people outdoors with an authorized officer to be present during the event.
People can walk for exercise while maintaining social distancing and wearing masks at all times.
And all persons are to practice social distancing of two metres from any person at all times, observe personal hand hygiene, wear protective clothing, and follow public health advisories in relation to COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health.
