Form 6 and 7 students in Vava’u and Tongatapu will return to school on Wednesday, March 16. Since the end of 2021 most students have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Prime Minister Hon. Hua’akavameiliku, as Minister for Education, announced the return of these senior students to secondary school, on March 11, 2022.

He said schools are given Monday and Tuesday next week to prepare for the return to school.

Only fully vaccinated teachers will be allowed to teach in schools. 

At the same time, government will assist the transportation of students to schools if needed, like designated buses.

Commercial buses are still not allowed to operate. 

He said school management will need to ensure that all Health protocols are followed strictly for the safety of teachers and students.
