Offender in Vava'u cocaine bust remains in custody [1]

‘Okusitino Penisimani Tatafu (49) is the man who was arrested in Neiafu, when Police seized 254.72 grams of cocaine on November 14.

He remains in police custody until January 3, 2022, his next court appearance.

The Magistrate’s Court office in Neiafu said today the accused was further detained in police custody, after he breached a condition of his first bail release.

Due to this breach, he was arrested by Police on November 24. He then asked for bail for the second time and was denied.

From Ta'anea, he is charged with possession of the illicit drug.

Meanwhile, Pita Tu’itufu Lakai (38) is the man who was arrested and charged with possession of a .22 long rifle and over 700 x .22 ammunition, without a license.

The seizure was made at a residence in Longomapu on November 23.

He is on bail to appear at the lower court on December 9.
