The prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene will increase starting on November 18.
The Competent Authority (TCA) approved the new petroleum prices for November-December 2021, as follows:
- Petrol increase from $3.01 to $3.26 per litre (by 25 cents)
- Kerosene increase from $2.07 to $2.29 per litre, (by 22 cents)
- Diesel increase from $2.94 to $3.15 per litre, (by 21 cents).
Crude prices continued to increase in October 2021 peaking over USD$86/bbl and the market remains tight with signs of rising demand and a significant increase in the international prices.
TCA has since July 2021 provided measures to lower the increase in Tonga’s fuel prices with reductions in the government duty and subsidy and will continue to monitor new increases.
Due to this high price increase this month, the Tonga Competent Authority advised the public to wisely manage its petrol consumption.
