Prolific thief of Tongan artefacts gets more jail time [1]

‘Ana Katokakala Siale (38) who is currently serving six-months in Hu'atolitoli Prison, was sentenced to serve another two-years for housebreaking and the theft of $22,980 pa'anga worth of Tongan artefacts.
At Fasi Magistrate's Court. on November 11, the prolific thief was sentenced by Chief Magistrate S. Mafi to serve the additional two-years,
She pleaded guilty to the offences committed in five different incidents at homes in Vaini, Ha'asini, Tatakamotonga, Fanga and Pili from 2020 to early 2021.
At the home in Vaini she stole $4,300 worth of items, $5,000 worth at Ha'asini, $9,350 in Tatakamotonga, $1,380 in Fanga and $2,950 at the home in Pili.
Most of the stolen items in some of these cases had been recovered.
Previously, on October 1 this year, the Appeal Court ordered her to serve six-months imprisonment (out of two and a half-years sentence) for the house breaking and theft of Tongan artefacts valued at $14,100 pa'anga in Nukunuku.
This was after the Appeal Court quashed her suspended sentence imposed at the Supreme Court.
On November 3, 2020 she broke into the complainant's home, and stole the items.
The court said she then sold some of the handicrafts to a loan business and an unspecified number of the products were recovered from the owner of that business.
