Tonga Government's public services will close down for their annual Christmas holiday, for two-weeks from Monday December 20, 2021 to resume on Monday January 3, 2022.

Cabinet on November 10 approved the Christmas vacation period for most government ministries. 

During the vacation period, Government’s essential services will continue to operate, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Police and Customs Division. Other Ministries will announce their operating hours, in due course. 

After public servants resume on January 3, they will finish early at 4:00pm daily, during that week, for the annual Uike Lotu (Prayer Week of the New Year).
