At least 1,090 students aged 12 to 17 years-old have been vaccinated with the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to date, since the roll-out to schools in Tongatapu began on October 21, confirmed the Ministry of Health today, October 25.

Eligible students at LDS Havelu Middle School, Liahona High School, Liahona Middle School and Pakilau Middle School were vaccinated today.

There are around 13,738 students in the age-group 12-17 years.

The Pfizer vaccine roll-out started on October 21 at Beulah College of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Government Middle Schools on the eastern district of Tongatapu.

On Friday, October 22, the roll-out continued at Tonga High School and Tonga College as well as some Government Middle Schools in Nuku’alofa.

Around 31,600 doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Tonga on October 20.

Meanwhile, those aged 18 and over can get their AstraZeneca inoculations at Vaiola Hospital from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
