The Tonga Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, had its busiest day on Friday welcoming 1,864 visitors for the day on October 15.

Pavilion Director, Tele Faletau said, “Since the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai, two weeks ago, we have been delighted to welcome, on average, 500 visitors a day to our Pavilion, but yesterday’s amazing number of visitors was just astounding – and we are expecting numbers to continue to grow.”

The Pavilion is open from 10:00am until 10:00pm and a diverse range of visitors enjoy an interactive and educational tour.

Visitors have praised Tonga’s commitment, through its theme ‘A Planet For Us All’, a powerful and positive message, raising awareness of plastic and other pollution in our oceans. He said it provides a thrilling experience for the children, who are greeted by mechanically blooming flowers of the rain forest in ‘Eua and welcomed by a holographic mascot, Lafi. Vsitors continue a digital and interactive journey through the Kingdom of Tonga, swiping away garbage in the ocean, that blocks Lafi’s best friend Lei, encountering a humpback whale, and re-populating a barren seascape with children’s coloured pictures of sea creatures, which are scanned, then drop down into the ocean and swim around,

“Many of our younger visitors emphatically declared the Tonga Pavilion as their favourite place at Expo 2020.”

Tele said that the theme of the Pavilion, was the vision of King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u, the Chairperson of Tonga’s National Expo 2020 Committee, and driven by the Deputy Commissioner General for Tonga, Sue ‘Akau‘ola. It was built with the support of the United Arab Emirates and especially Dubai.
