Around $20,000 pa’anga will be offered in cash and prizes from Digicel Tonga to help raise awareness of women and men’s health in Tonga during October and November.
This includes donations to the Tonga Breast Cancer Society and the Vava’u Breast Cancer Association during “Pinktober”, and activities such as a “Movember Fun Walk” and Run to be held in early November.
While Pinktober has been supported annually over the last five years by Digicel, this is the first time the company is supporting Movember, which involves growing moustaches during November to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.
At a press conference yesterday, Digicel Tonga CEO Anthony Seuseu said the outbreak of COVID-19 had highlighted the importance of health.
“We value our customers and our community. We want to use this opportunity to drive awareness of breast cancer and men’s health using the Pinktober and Movember themes.
“These small contributions go a long way to ensuring our customers and communities continue to invest in their health and wellness in the Kingdom.”
The health awareness campaign was launched at Digicel Square on, Friday 1 October.
