Nomani Kama Manulevu (45) from Nukuhetulu is the man charged with the exportation of 30 kilograms of methamphetamine from Tonga to New Zealand.

Police Prosecution said today the accused appeared at the Fasi Magistrate's Court on Monday, September 20.

His case was adjourned to December 13, as a police investigation continues. In the meantime, he is remanded in police custody pending a bail application.

He was arrested by Tonga Police on September 9.

The methamphetamine concealed in a refrigerated food container was seized in New Zealand, after it was intercepted through a joint operation between Tonga Police and the New Zealand Customs and Police in early August.

Five other arrests were made in Auckland by New Zealand Customs in the operation.
