The 152 passengers repatriated from Auckland have tested negative for COVID-19, on their first test after arriving in Tonga on July 28.

CEO for Public Health, Dr Reynold 'Ofanoa confirmed today the negative results for the passengers tests. Three COVID-19 tests are now mandatory upon arrival in Tonga.

The Tongan Government last week deferred three flights from Brisbane, Pago Pago and Vanuatu to August 25.

Meanwhile, the Fiji flights have been deferred until futher notice, due to the increasing COVID-19 cases there.

More than 3,000 people have entered Tonga through quarantine since the border restrictions were imposed in March, 2020.

To date, no cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Tonga.
