Man pleads guilty to manslaughter [1]

Sioeli Tapueluelu (37) has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in relation to the death of a 27-year-old whom he repeatedly hit on the head, including using a frying pan during an altercation in 2020.
The deceased was Harilal (Harry) Vamanrav from Ngele’ia.
The offence occurred on May 9, 2020 at a residence in Havelu, where the accused had been drinking alcohol.
The Crown said, an altercation led to the accused punching and hitting the victim with the frying pan and a small stove on the head. He died from internal head injuries, the day after.
The accused who was to stand trial on Monday, July 19 before Lord Chief Justice Whitten QC, changed his plea to guilty.
He will be sentenced on August 26.
