A Tongan choir from Maui, Hawai'i, is in Tonga to participate for the first time in the 122nd Annual Conference of the Free Church of Tonga to be held in 'Ohonua, 'Eua, from May 12-17.

The 100 strong group includes the women singers and church youth.

The leader of the choir, Rev Tevita Malafu, said that they decided to attend this year's church conference because it is held in 'Eua and most of their congregation in Hawai'i come from 'Eua.

Tevita said their congregation back home consists of about 500 Tongans belonging to a Maui branch of the Free Church of Tonga.

The group will travel to 'Eua on Friday May 11 in time for the opening of the church conference on Saturday May 12 in 'Ohonua.

Members of the group will return to Hawai'i in early June.
