By this morning, 1125 people had received their second dose of the Covid-19 Astra-Zeneca vaccine, since the second vaccination roll out started on June 24 in Nuku'alofa.

CEO for the Ministry of Health Dr Siale ‘Akau’ola said today they aimed to innoculate up to 70 percent of the Tongan population by December this year.

A total of 28,667 people in Tonga have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Ministry of Health advised members of the public that they must receive their second dose, within eight to 12-weeks of their first dose.

If they have missed out on the given date, they can still visit the vaccination sites, as they will still be allowed.

For the rest of the population, the Ministry hoped to receive the rest of the vaccine supplies around August this year.

For any further queries or questions, the Ministry of Health toll free number is 0800-019.
