Sesilia Uaisele (29) was sentenced to three-months imprisonment for possession of 0.02 grams of methamphetamine, seized in a vehicle at a bus station in Nuku'alofa.
Lord Chief Justice Whitten QC sentenced her on June 14, at the Nuku’alofa Supreme Court.
This was after she was arrested for failing to turn up the court twice.
The offence was on the night of March 2, 2020 when police seized the illicit drugs, after receiving reliable information from an informer that the defendant and her co-accused Tevita Fatongiatau were selling drugs from his vehicle at the western/eastern districts bus station.
She was convicted on January 15, 2021 after a trial by the then Acting Justice Langi.
After hearing from the defendant and the prosecutor, the Chief Justice sentenced her to three-months imprisonment.
The sentence was then fully suspended for 12-months, on conditions that she be placed on probation, must complete a drugs and alcohol awareness course and carry out 40-hours community service, among other requirements.
