New Zealand’s pledge of 4,800 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine for Tonga arrived at Fua’amotu International Airport today, 16 June.
The New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga, Hon. Tiffany Babington was at the airport to see the shipment arrive. It has been consigned to officials from the Tonga Ministry of Health.
The 4,800 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine were committed by New Zealand early this year in support of the Gavi COVAX Advance Market Commitment (Gavi COVAX AMC).
A statement from the New Zealand High Commission stated that additional vaccine for Tonga would be announced “when COVAX publishes new allocations rounds.”
