Woman seriously injured in Vava'u home invasion attack [1]

A 29-year-old woman is in stable condition at the hospital in Neiafu, after she was seriously injured in a home invasion on Sunday morning, June 6.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Tevita Vailea said this afternoon, that a 33-year-old man had been arrested and remained in police custody.

He is charged with grievous bodily harm.

The report from Police in Neiafu, said the accused allegedly broke into a home in Masilamea, at around 3:00 am when the victim and her children were sleeping. 

They were awoken by the accused, and during a confrontation with the victim, the man allegedly attacked her with a knife, injuring her hands, one of her fingers and other parts of her body, Police said.

In the meantime, Police investigation continues to determine the motive and other circumstances of this attack.
